What Is CryoPen?

CryoPen O operates by emitting a fine jet of liquefied nitrous oxide under high pressure, which allows for targeted and controlled freezing of the skin lesion. This innovative approach ensures that only the lesion is treated, sparing the surrounding healthy tissue. CryoPen O is renowned for its accuracy and efficiency, making it an ideal safe choice for both patients and practitioners.

What concerns can the CryoPen help with?

CryoPen is highly effective in helping you to deal with the quick and painless removal of many benign (non cancerous) skin lesions that may be causing irritation (if catching/rubbing on clothing) or embarrassment if they are visible and unsightly.

Treatable lesions include:

Skin Tags: These small, soft growths commonly appear on the neck, armpits, and other body skin folds.

Cherry Angioma: Small, red/purple vascular lesions that can appear anywhere on the body.

Filiform Warts: Long, narrow viral warts that most commonly appear on the eyelid but can appear on the face and neck.

Solar Lentigines: Also known as sun spots or age spots, these are flat, brown spots that develop on sun-exposed skin.

Seborrheic Keratoses: Non-cancerous skin growths that appear “stuck on” and can have a waxy, scaly appearance. They often have a soft velvety feel to touch.

Angiofibroma: Small fibrous dome shaped tissue papules common on the face but especially around the nose area

Venous Lake: Small benign vascular dark blue/purple papules, typically on sun exposed skin, especially the face, lips and necks. These are caused by dilated tiny blood vessels due to sun damage.

Actinic Keratoses: Rough scaly lesions that may be slightly raised. Common on the sun exposed areas, especially the face, arms and neck.

Dermatofibroma: Firm lesions, typically on the legs and often as a result of inflammation following insect bites. They typically dimple in the centre when pinched.

Sebaceous Hyperplasia: small sebum filled bumps, common on bony areas such as the forehead. Most common in middle age.

Milia: small pearly white/yellowish raised bumps commonly on cheeks, nose or around the eye area. These are filled with a protein called keratin.

Molluscum Contagiosum: small skin coloured viral bumps with a shiny surface and central dimple. They are common in children but can also occur in adults.

Warts: caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and most common on the hands.

What is the Treatment Called?

The treatment is called CryoPen and uses the fully CE /Medical approved CryoPen O device (only available to medical professionals). It delivers liquified nitrous oxide in a very precise, fine jet, to target and treat lesions in even the most delicate areas, including the eye area.

This is a quick, painless treatment with minimal downtime and minimal risk of scarring compared to other surgical options.

Recovery Time

One of the key advantages of the CryoPen O treatment is the minimal downtime required. This treatment is non invasive. Most patients can resume their daily activities immediately after the procedure and can go back to work immediately.  Some lesions may form a thick, painless blister for a few days or develop an eschar (scab).  Full healing and lesion removal can be expected within one to two weeks, depending on the lesion type, size and location. You will be given detailed aftercare at your appointment.

Results

Many lesions such as skin tags, cherry angioma, seborrheic keratoses will be successfully treated with 1-2 sessions with the CryoPen. Some larger lesions and viral warts may require more sessions. Solar Lentigines can take a few weeks to come off and then it can be a further few weeks for the new skin underneath to adjust to your normal skin tone. Treatment intervals are usually 2-4 weeks. Once lesions are removed/fall off, they do not usually return (*unless viral warts – these may recur)
